slow poke in Toronto - starting photo

I did finally send off my finished item, so I hope it arrives in the coming week.I somehow missed the email about introductions, so here is my very belated one.

I am a Toronto-based knitter, usually of socks and baby gifts. My blog, which is not always about knitting and which is not always updated, is available at http://www.analecta.ca/lisarr

For this project I decided to combine it with some vintage yarn I received for charity sock knitting.

I ended up taking a break in the middle of the project, as I had to go on a business trip to China. I did not think the safety pins on the tags would go over well at airport security.
I did take the sock to the Yarn Harlot’s Canadian book launch, which was quite fun. This is kind of self-reflexive - I took a photo of my sock, while Stephanie Pearl-McPhee took a photo of her sock …

I enjoyed working on the project and giving my knitting more thought in the process.

So many packages!

DSC02112.JPG

I don’t think I’ve said this enough: You all are awesome. I’ve been stopping in to Loop weekly to pick up packages, and I always come away with an armful!

I’ve been trying to keep up with sending everyone a confirmation email. If you’ve mailed your package and haven’t heard from me, leave a comment or send me an email.

We did it!

Hello Knitters,

I just got word that The Knitter Project was accepted by the jury! I’m so excited!

Thank you for all of the work you’ve done. This really, truly could not have happened without you.

My project is done!

I have finally completely finished my shawl for the project.  I blocked it overnight and it was dry this morning when I got home from work!  I am very happy with it, and relieved to have it done.  I’ll be packing it up now, and sending it off this week.

It is the Spring Things Shawl by Susan Lawrence.  I knit it exactly as the pattern stated, same number of repeats etc.  I knit it on size four needles with Jaggerspun Zephyr Wool-Silk in Sage, and it blocked to a wingspan of about 60 inches.  I used probably a little over half a ball of the Zephyr.  Oh and I used beads instead of knitting the nupps.  I love beads in my knitting.  :)

Here are some pictures of it blocking and then afterwards.

This was such a fun experience!  I can’t wait to see the rest of what everyone else is knitting up for this.

Done Some More

Knitter Project 015

Almost forgot to post that I finished my Serpentine Mitts! They’ve been done for a week or so. I’ll be sending them out tomorrow. Not sure if I’ll be keeping them once they are returned to me…I just don’t know how I feel about them. What does everyone think of them? One more shot for the road.

Installation Tests

I’ve gotten a few pieces back already so I’ve been experimenting with display strategies in my studio…

(Never fear, the knits are not in danger of ripping, I take them down after I photograph them)

It’s not glamorous, but putting everything up on the wall is helping me make some decisions. I welcome any suggestions!

Day 64 (64/366): Knitting Up My Mistakes

My name is Rebecca and my blog is Supergirl Knits. I’ve been hard at work on my piece of the Knitter Project. I may need to be a Supergirl to finish this project in time.

I’m making a Clapotis since I loved knitting it the first time but I’m dreadfully behind on my Clapotis and so I’ve been frantically knitting since the projects are due in Philadelphia on March 15th. I have a new deadline! MUST….KNIT….FASTER!

Clap-ing

Red and pink

It’s a gray day today in Philadelphia, so here’s something to brighten the mood:

washcloth

Unfortunately, the lace scarf wasn’t going to work with the tags (I was worried that the safety pins would damage the fabric), so here’s something sturdy that can and will withstand any abuse. A washcloth in linen/cotton. It will be in the mail soon.

Opps I forgot!

So I have had my project finished and mailed off for a long time now, it was received successfully and all but I realized that I never posted it up on here! So, here is my finished “Owl Love Talk” scarf. I made the pattern too and it will be up on ravelry soon as well for free. :)
